Mosi-oa-Tunya - the smoke that thunders, from both sides
Victoria Falls - locally Mosi-oa-Tunya, 'the smoke that thunders' - is a 1,708-metre-wide curtain of water falling 108 metres into the Zambezi gorge, twice the height of Niagara and 1.5 times the width. A UNESCO World Heritage Site straddling Zambia and Zimbabwe, it's been a global wonder since David Livingstone's 1855 visit. We curate both sides: Zimbabwe gives you 75% of the rainforest viewpoints (16 of them) and the most dramatic profile shots; Zambia delivers the heart-stopping Devil's Pool swim at the lip of the falls (Aug-Dec only when water is low) and Livingstone Island picnic. Add white-water rafting, a Zambezi sunset cruise, helicopter flips, or extend into Chobe or Hwange for safari combinations.
Day 1
Meet & greet at Livingstone airport. Transfer to riverside lodge. Sunset Zambezi cruise with canapés, gin and tonic, and prolific elephant and hippo viewing on the banks.
Day 2
Morning visit to the Zambian side of the falls and Knife-Edge Bridge. Boat to Livingstone Island for the Devil's Pool experience (seasonal) - swim at the very edge of the falls with safety guides. Brunch on the island. Afternoon at leisure or visit Mukuni Village.
Day 3
Border crossing on foot via the historic Victoria Falls Bridge. Two-hour guided rainforest walk through all 16 Zimbabwean viewpoints - the most photogenic angles. Lunch at the Lookout Café perched above the gorge. Optional bungee jump (111m) from the bridge. Return to lodge.
Day 4
Choose: helicopter Flight of Angels (13 min), Grade V rafting (full day), or game drive in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park (white rhino tracking on foot). Transfer to airport for departure.
Not included: international flights, visa fees, optional activities marked above, personal expenses, tips beyond stated inclusions, and travel insurance (we arrange separately on request).
